Sage Stallone, son of actor Sylvester, found dead in LA

The 36-year-old son of Sylvester Stallone was found dead Friday, leaving the actor grief-stricken, his publicist said.
Authorities were investigating Sage Stallone's death, but details were not immediately available.
"Sylvester Stallone is devastated and grief-stricken over the sudden loss of his son," publicist Michelle Bega said in a statement. "His compassion and thoughts are with Sage's mother, Sasha."
Los Angeles police said they were dispatched to investigate a death at a home on Mulholland Terrace around 2:15 p.m. but could not confirm the person's identity or offer details.
Coroner's officials also said they were in the initial investigative stages.
"Sage was a very talented and wonderful young man, his loss will be felt forever," Bega said.
George Braunstein, an attorney who has represented Sage Stallone for 15 years, said a housekeeper found his body Friday afternoon. Friends and acquaintances had become concerned because they hadn't heard from Stallone in the past day, Braunstein said.
Sage Moonblood Stallone was the oldest of Sylvester Stallone's children and co-starred with his father in two films. He was the first of two sons Stallone had with first wife Sasha Czack.
Sage Stallone made his acting debut in 1990's "Rocky V" and also appeared with his father in 1996's "Daylight."
Also in 1996, Sage Stallone and veteran film editor Bob Murawski co-founded Grindhouse Releasing, a company dedicated to preserving and promoting the B-movies and exploitation films of the 1970s and 80s.
"He was very respectful of all the actors in all the movies," Braunstein said. "You couldn't mention a movie that he didn't know everything about."
Sage Stallone also directed the 2006 short "Vic," which screened at the Palm Springs Film Festival.
Braunstein said Stallone was planning on getting married for the first time, and had frequent requests to work on films.
"He was a full of life filmmaker with his whole future ahead of him," Braunstein said. "He was just very up and enthusiastic and positive.
"I think it was probably some sort of accident," he said of the death.
Braunstein said Sage Stallone greatly admired his father but was working hard to make his own name in the film industry.

James won a leading three individual trophies, including male athlete of the year, and shared in another at the 20th annual show celebrating the year's best athletes and moments in sports.

He wasn't on hand to accept because he was in Las Vegas with the rest of the U.S. national team preparing for the upcoming London Olympics.

James outpolled tennis player Novak Djokovic, Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in fan voting for male athlete honors. He also won in the championship performance and NBA player categories, while sharing in the best team award, with Juwan Howard and Mike Miller accepting for the Heat.

"He's had a magnifying glass on him since he was 17 years old and I think he's handled himself really, really well," Miller said of James backstage. "Unbelievable teammate, unbelievable father, so those are the most important things. He's just a likeable guy. He's a great basketball player to boot."

Baylor basketball star Brittney Griner won two trophies, including female athlete of the year in which she beat out French Open champion Maria Sharapova, skier Lindsay Vonn and soccer player Abby Wambach.

Quarterback Robert Griffin III, who like Griner starred at Baylor, won male college athlete honors. Griner took female college athlete honors for leading the Lady Bears to a 40-0 record and the NCAA championship.

Earlier this week a video depicting Greece, N.Y. school bus monitor Karen Klein being maliciously verbally abused by the students she was watching over went viral, sparking national outrage and leading to a campaign on website Indiegogo.com to buy the district staff member a dream vacation.

As of Thursday evening, the donations amount to almost $400,000. While Klein has described the incident in several interviews, the boy's testimony still remained to be heard -- until Anderson Cooper read two of their official statements on CNN's "Anderson 360."

"I feel really bad about what I did," Wesley, one of the boys in the video, said in a statement issued to the show by police. "I wish I had never done those things. If that had happened to someone in my family, like my mother or grandmother, I would be really mad at the people who did that to them."

"I am so sorry for the way I treated you," Josh, another one of the boys, said in a statement. "When I saw the video I was disgusted and could not believe I did that. I am sorry for being so mean and I will never treat anyone this way again."

When asked if she thought the boys were bad kids, Klein responded in a surprising way.

"Not really, not deep down," she told Anderson Cooper.

Things continue to look up for the grandmother of eight, as Cooper announced Southwest airlines offered to fly her and nine other people to Disneyland for free.

Overall, this year’s show was a thrill to watch, and away from the winners there was one specific reason for this — hosting duo LMFAO, who brought a little bit of insanity (and inappropriate behavior) to the show that was in many ways infectious. We saw Rico Rodriguez from “Modern Family” do the shuffle, Katy Perry perform dressed as a butterfly in a skin-tone bodysuit, and Perez Hilton try to one up LMFAO by saying that Katy was his “good friend.” Justin Bieber closed out the show with a set that includes “All Around the World” along with his recent smash hit “Boyfriend.”

Istanbul concert on Thursday night, the 53-year-old singer flashed a lot of skin, but she didn't have a wardrobe malfunction.

While performing her hit 1995 song "Human Nature" the singer began stripping off her clothes, first removing her white shirt, before she simply pulled down her bra to give the audience a good look at her right nipple.

Lady Gaga Injured During Concert

The show must go on, and no one knows this better than Lady Gaga. The singer reportedly suffered a head injury Sunday while performing a concert in Auckland, New Zealand.



Gaga was performing her song "Judas" when one of her dancers accidentally hit her with a prop pole. She grabbed her head for a moment, but in true Gaga fashion, didn't miss a beat and continued singing. According to GagaMedia.net, she later told the crowd she thought she may have a concussion but would keep performing.

Gaga isn't the only singer to recently get injured at a concert. Last month, Justin Bieber accidentally ran into a glass wall backstage at one of his shows in Paris and was knocked out for several seconds.

The world loves Will Smith. Maybe not enough to forgive Men in Black 2, but the world still loves him. They love him so much that he’s been claimed to be one of the only black actor who can open a movie overseas. That’s a lot of love. But sometimes those overseas folk love him too much, like a Ukranian reporter who accidentally brushed his lips against those of the star and got a slap for his effort.

TMZ has video of Smith at the Moscow premiere of Men in Black 3. While walking the red carpet, a male reporter attempted to give him a European kiss on the cheeks. Unfortunately, he got a little too close to the space in between and Smith pushed him back and gave him a light slap. Smith then walked away, saying, “He’s lucky I didn’t sucker punch him.” He then remembered he was surrounded by cameras and brought that million dollar smile right back up.

TMZ is reporting that kissing celebs is apparently that reporter’s “schtick.” That may be the case, but you can’t try that stuff with Big Willie Style. You’re no Kevin James.

Chuck Brown Dead: D.C.'s 'Godfather Of Go Go' Dies At 75

 

Chuck Brown, the legendary "Godfather of Go-Go," has died, according to Washington City Paper and other media reports.

The local D.C. musical giant, born in Gaston, N.C., and known for his group's 1979 chart-topping hit "Bustin' Loose," was 75.

Earlier this month, Brown's family revealed that he had pneumonia. He had canceled a planned performance at the newly reopened Howard Theatre in April due to health concerns.

According to the Associated Press, Brown died at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore.

Known as the “Godfather of Go-Go,” the performer, singer, guitarist and songwriter developed his commanding brand of funk in the mid-1970s to compete with the dominance of disco.
Like a DJ blending records, Mr. Brown used nonstop percussion to stitch songs together and keep the crowd on the dance floor, resulting in marathon performances that went deep into the night. Mr. Brown said the style got its name because “the music just goes and goes.”

District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray said in a statement:

"Go-go is D.C.'s very own unique contribution to the world of pop music, and Chuck Brown was regarded as Go-go's creator and, arguably, its most legendary artist,” Mayor Gray said. "Today is a very sad day for music lovers the world over, but especially in the District of Columbia. Without Chuck Brown, the world –- and our city –- will be a different place. What a loss!

I am thankful that I had so many opportunities to witness Chuck's singular talent in person, and I enjoyed each performance immensely. My heart, my thoughts and my prayers go out to his family."

Georgia Student Aimee Copeland Fighting Flesh-Eating Disease After Zip Line Injury

The road ahead will not be easy for Aimee Copeland, the Georgia woman whose freak zip-lining accident led to a flesh-eating bacteria infection that's kept her on life support for days.

She's showing small signs of recovery, but faces even more surgeries due to the necrotizing fasciitis that has already taken her leg.

"Today Aimee is responsive and coherent," Copeland's father, Andy, wrote on his blog on Thursday. "She is responding to specific commands, and even selected the music she wanted to listen to. ... Unfortunately, her blood vessels in her hands and in her remaining foot have died, and thus they will have to be amputated too."

Copeland, 24, has been in critical condition since Friday, when doctors diagnosed her with the infection. Surgeons amputated her left leg and removed tissue from her abdomen to try to stop the bacteria from spreading.

The infection began after Copeland cut her leg last week while she was zip-lining with her friends during a kayaking trip in Carrollton, Ga.

She is still on life support at an Augusta burn unit.

Though the story is tragic, Copeland's family seemed hopeful when she showed signs of movement despite doctors' warnings on Tuesday that her chances of survival were "slim to none."

"Aimee has had a spectacular day -- she's breathing more on her own and her body is responding positively," Copeland's sister Paige wrote Wednesday on the wall of a Facebook page set up for Aimee. "She even got emotional today, I think she's scared."
